Supra had their own way to commemorate this historic cultural event with the Supra Vaider, like we showed you a few days ago. And with that in mind, we can’t forget that Jordan Brand had their share to celebrate the festivities with the Jordan Melo M7 “National Puerto Rican Day”.

Carmelo Anthony recently posted images of these gems over the weekend via Twitter. The custom Melo M7 comes equipped with a red and royal blue upper in honor of the nations flag.  The shoe is accented by many hints of white as well as a white midsole, Jumpman logo and “Future Sole” logo on the tongue. These aren’t available for retail or mass production, but will either be available on eBay in the future, or nestled safely in Melo’s secret stash.

Today is the day that you can enter the annual sneaker design competition for your chance to have your designs reviewed by Jordan & Nike designers.

Last year’s winner’s, Allen Largin, Melo M7 Advance is just a few weeks away from releasing… your design could be next. Two categories are in place; a U.S. high school & an international/ college category. There will be one winner from each category whom will receive $5,000 worth of computer equipment to take their sneaker designing dreams to another level.

A T-Shirt design category will also make an appearance for the second straight year. The winner of the shirt design category will have their designs featured on FutureSole.com as well as receiving a Powerbook.

Here is the first look at the Jordan Melo M7 ‘Future Sole’. Melo will be rocking these on the court this Friday which will be his first signature in sneaker featuring his new team’s colors.

Last August, 15-year-old Allen Largin came away the winner of the Future Sole 2010 competition with a creative design of the Jordan Melo M7. Largin’s design was inspired by the clean lines and durability of Indy Cars and meaningful symbols relating to Carmelo Anthony’s life.

Since winning the contest, Largin has been able to personally present his design to ‘Melo and work with the Jordan design team to continue developing his initial drafts into a final product. When ‘Melo suits up against Detroit on Friday he’ll be rocking the Future Sole M7.

The Melo M7 Future Sole debuts in a New York team orange/white-midnight navy colorway and features several personal touches. The Melo ‘M’ logo is prominently displayed on the heel, while the in-step of the shoe features his sister’s name “Chelle” to honor her memory. The tongue of the shoe also showcases the Future Sole logo.

‘Melo won’t be the only baller rocking these on Friday, as members of his alma-mater Syracuse will also be wearing this M7 during their first-round tournament game. You’ll be able to get your hands on these kicks yourself when they hit retail this Summer at Foot Locker’s House of Hoops.

In April, Nike launched the 2009 Future Sole Design Competition. High school students between the ages of 14-19 interested in footwear design enter their renderings into one of two categories: Nike or Jordan. The grand prize winner of the competition will receive $7,000 in supplies and software, and will also be greeted with a round-trip flight to “The Beav” to meet and talk kicks with Nike’s in-house creators. Registration will end on June 1st, so prospective entrants, get your work in!
After entering the competition, we encourage you to become a part of the Sneaker Files x 2009 Future Sole Side Competition. To join, enter a tagged rendering of your design (Yes, your design MUST BE TAGGED!) following this format: SNEAKERFILES.COM x “Your Tag”. Next, upload your work to Photobucket. To finish strong, send Sneakerfiles a message on our Twitter (@Sneakerfiles) account with a link to your design included.
