When anyone dies it is usually a sad moment in time, which can only begin to get better through a grieving and remembrance process. But when someone often in the public eye and who chose to embrace the role he/she played in this world passes away, it reaches people from all over with varying backgrounds and in different situations. That was exactly the case when word got out of DJ AM’s passing away. However, his death should not cloud our memory of him or leave us forever dejected because a vibrant spirit such as DJ AM’s would have wanted none of that. And as we continue on our way to dealing with his and many other deaths, we are better off using what we learned from those people to live better, happier lives instead of stay stuck in an often confusing present.

One way in which we now have the opportunity to do this is by supporting the DJ AM Memorial Fund, which aims to help support others who face constant battles with addiction. In that spirit, DJ AM’s VERY extensive size 11 shoe collection will be auctioned off through eBay starting this Sunday November 15, 2009. ALL of the proceeds will benefit the fund’s initiatives and depict how much one can have an impact, even after leaving us for good. Boston Celtics big man Glenn “Big Baby” Davis sported this green/gold/red Nike Hyperdunk on Christmas Day in Los Angeles. NBA Commissioner David Stern enacted a new allowance during the summer that allowed players to wear kicks that didn’t correspond or match up with the regimented uniform or color blocking requirements put forth in the rule book. The Swoosh and “Baby” Davis took advantage, mixing and matching a bit of red around the Nike check to accompany the combination patent leather/leather green/gold schema. Air Jordan collectors rejoice! The Air Jordan Nubuck XII (12) Retro is available for purchase now on eBay. This predominantly black affair is offset nicely by Carolina Blue accents and a white “23″ inscribed on the heel. Thankfully, Jordan Brand stayed true to the original’s material usage and componentry, and the only thing different with the ‘09 retro is that the blue lining which stretches from behind the tongue to over the top.

The Air Jordan XIV (14) is one of the simplest and safest Air Jordan models made to date. Many colorways of the AJ14 were released in 2005, and we are now getting a detailed view of a colorway that never made it to retailers. Featuring a white upper with chambray accents, the colorway on these unreleased samples is pretty simple. One of the key aspects of this pair is the chambray colored inner lining. Though the inner lining color is not usually visible once it is being worn, it makes a huge difference to the appearance of the sneaker if it’s sitting on your shelves. As previously mentioned, this is a sample Air Jordan 14 and will not be released. The only way to cop a pair is through the ‘Bay.

The 2009 NBA All-Star game is quickly approaching and Nike is doing their part to support the occasion by creating this Air Force One (1). One out of the three AF1’s designed by DJ Clark Kent, this pair sports the colors of the Phoenix Suns’ jerseys for the obvious fact that the game will be held in Phoenix, Arizona. The upper is divided into three panels which sport purple, orange, and black premium leathers. Other key aspects of this sneaker include yellow stitching, purple laces marked with yellow stars, and a yellow outsole. Back in 2000 before the Air Jordan 6 (VI) Retro – Black/Deep Infrared was released, many sneakerheads may remember that a sample image was seen which depicted certain midsole parts of the sneaker as infrared instead of black. This little deviation from the original sneaker had collectors going crazy and throwing fits. Jordan Brand recognized what the consumers wanted and eventually ended up releasing a product more in line with the Original Air Jordan 6 Infrared. Though at that time the sample was seen as nothing special, it is now available on the ‘Bay for a current bid of over $5,000.

The Beautiful Losers x Nike Dunk High is definitely one of the most unique and creative Nike Dunk’s ever released. These Dunk Highs are inspired by the Beautiful Losers film documentary which focuses on the lives and struggles of various people including musicians and graffiti artists and other skateboarding related aspects. Selected scenes from the movie appear on the Beautiful Losers x Nike collection of Dunks, a design conceptualized by Jesse Leyva of Nike.  All of the Dunks in this collection feature a different image digitally printed onto the upper, a concept we have never seen before. An extremely limited amount of these sneakers were auctioned off on Ebay a couple months ago and it is now nearly impossible to find a pair.  You can check out a couple auctions on the ‘bay that currently have these for sale.
