This month typically consists of releases dedicated to Easter, but there is another religious period falling in April, Passover. Passover is observed by the people of the Jewish faith reflecting back on a time of hardship where the Hebrews escaped from slavery. During the 8 days of Passover, it is forbidden to eat leavened bread and other fermented products. Passover is also a time to remember the exodus from Egypt led by Moses who miraculously parted the Red Sea (reason for our tribute to the best eight red shoes); guiding the Hebrews to the Promise Land. The Converse All Star Tie Dye Pack dropped overseas just in time for the warm summertime months. Composed of the Chuck Taylor All Star and Skidgrip Mid and Ox, each model’s canvas upper has been tie-dyed. A purple/orange/pink/white schema and black/purple/green/royal blue/ white scheme colorway are offered on the Skid and Chuck, and both are complimented by a rubber outsole. A bit too lucid for my purist tastes, but perhaps the Hypeasts/”Kanyeezys” of the world will match these with their rose-colored denim and multicolored polo shirts this July? Only time will tell. Selfridges & Co. is celebrating their 100th anniversary with a limited version of the Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Ox. Inspired by the England company’s iconic Pantone 109 colorway, this predominantly yellow canvas affair is offset by black patent leather accents and a white rubber midsole. The lowtop’s upper is double stitched and features the “All Star” logo on the tongue. The Selfridges x Converse Chuck Taylor All Star “Centenary Edition” will be available at Selfridges’ Concept Store and at Offspring this coming May.

It’s been over a year since we first heard about the Converse (RED) Chuck Taylor High x Lupe Fiasco collaboration, and it’s finally releasing. The upper consists of a solid black, patent leather makeup with the top two eyelets being red to signify the Converse (RED) part of this collabo. After seeing a preview of the Commes Des Garcons Play x Converse Chuck Taylor Pack, the four-pack shoe has finally released. The pack consisting of black and white Converse Chuck Taylor All Star Hi’s and Lo’s marks the ongoing “Play” collection by Japanese brand Comme Des Garcons. The trademark heart symbol is featured on one side panel of each shoe as well as on the insole. Of course, the shoes use an all-canvas upper to keep it clean and classic. These CDG Chucks are available now online for a hefty price of about $145 each.

We last saw the Converse Skidgrip Low when it was part of the Original Jams Pack. This time, Converse has released the Converse Skidgrip Expo Okinawa to celebrate the lively colors of the equally lively island. The Skidgrip loosely resembles the Vans Authentic or Vans Era, especially with the similar shape of the toebox and stitching pattern. The shoe uses a canvas upper with a black toebox and a colorful air-brushed-like upper, with a white midsole to keep it clean. To finish it off Converse style, the shoe features the trademark heel tag. This shoe is available now for about $75.
