Converse Japan is set to release an exciting collection of restructured classic models called the Dress Code 1/2 Collection. While silhouettes of the featured models are expected to remain the same, the shoes will be dressed with fancier materials and patterns, imitating the structure of formal shoes. The first two models of the collection, the Jack Purcell S MDLN and Jack Purcell S Plain, feature brogue punching and streamlined upper panels. With more of the collection scheduled to be unveiled on January 15th, 2010, you can expect these two Jack Purcell models to be available in December.

The Jack Purcell was recently previewed in a waxed leather upper with white soles. Now, Converse Japan is preparing to release two pairs of the Jack Purcell in a low-top cut that sport checkered uppers. Still with completely white soles, these pairs of the Jack Purcell sport a checkered grey/black/white upper and a checkered brown/red/black, respectively, adding to the overall attention the Jack Purcell model demands from passers by. How do you feel about the decision to not only use the checkered model, but also work on a low-top cut of the sneaker instead of anything else? Because it’s always worth mentioning and should never get old, artist Ian Ginoza went to work on and produced a rather clean and sleek pair of Jack Purcell’s earlier this year that’ll be benefitting the fight against AIDS in Africa. This pair of Jack Purcell’s, however, was the product of Converse’s collaboration with Japanese brand Victim. The shoe comes with a predominantly obsidian/navy blue leather upper with white shoelaces and a completely white sole. White stitching along the upper and a hint of obsidian at the very tip of the toe box add very slight touches important to the shoe’s overall appearance. These will be coming out in select Victim/Converse retailers across Japan as well as online some time later this fall/winter.

Tomorrow, August 29th, 2009, the Jack Purcell V3 will launch in what is to be the culmination of a lot of work. Ian Ginoza is a part of Converse 1Hund(RED)’s team of artists that uses art as a way of transcending barriers and calling attention to the bigger struggles we face as a people. Originally a graphic designer, Ian soon became a big fan of sneakers as well as an entrepreneur. Having founded Kicks Hawaii, Ian collaborated with Nike on the now famous Nike Dunk SB “Hawaii.” And in 2007 he was a part of two collaboration debuts that were in support of Converse (PRODUCT) RED. He now spends his days working on what has become the brand’s most limited product.

This particular release highlights specifically the fight against AIDS in Africa. Inspired by a single, white blood cell, Ian states, “It’s about a clean slate–something completely pure.” He also quite honestly “just wanted to make something hopeful.” Consisting of a leather upper with vintage texturing, this premium Jack Purcell 3 strap shoe is all ready to go on sale. It also includes Epi leather and rubber outsoles. The shoe retails for $90, and depending on the products sold, 5-15% of the net sales of CONVERSE (PRODUCT) RED shoes goes directly to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Although the Converse Jack Purcell Racearound is a new model, it certainly is a classic. The Converse Jack Purcell Racearound has now been released in a white/black colorway. It uses an white leather upper with a perforated black leather side panel, along with a white midsole, as always. There isn’t much from this preview picture to tell about the shoe, but it surely promises to be a popular casual shoe.
