Bob reports in his issue #21 “Let ‘Em Marinate” column that Under Armour has plans to delay the release of their b-ball lineup until 2011. Even with the lag, the Baltimore, Maryland outfit will equip several Division 1 and AAU squads with special make-ups of the BB Protoype this winter and next summer. I’m particularly smitten with the shoe’s aesthetics and material combinations, so all of the pairs pictured above look lovely. Via: Bounce.

 
Though Dwight Howard was unsuccessful in winning the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest this past weekend, his sneakers were definitely on point. Throwing down a plethora of amazing dunks including easily dunking on a 12 foot high rim, Howard surely gave 5’9 Nate Robinson a run for his money. Eventually Nate aka Kryptonate won the contest while dunking over his 6’11 competitor, Dwight Howard. For the Slam Dunk Contest, Dwight was rocking this Superman inspired colorway of the adidas TS Bounce Commander. Featuring a blue patent leather upper with red and yellow accents, this pair definitely brings out the superhero in all of us. To cap it all off, adidas has also included a Superman logo on the heel of the sneaker as well as Dwight’s number, 12, on the midsole. The NBA All Star Weekend kicked off last night with the Rookie Challenge and today, the Haier Shooting Stars, Play Station Skills Challenge, Foot Locker Three-Point Shootout, and the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest all took place. The day was quite action packed with the underdog, Daequan Cook, winning the Three Point Contest while Derrick Rose won the Play Station Skills Challenge, and Team Detroit finished first in the Haier Shooting Stars. Sneaker wise, the day was also quite action packed with interesting sneaker choices from athletes including Michael Cooper rocking the Nike Think Pink – Hyperdunk and Dwight Howard rocking a Superman player exclusive colorway of the adidas TS Bounce Commander.

With all things aside, the Sprite Slam Dunk Contest was definitely the best part of the evening. The 5’9 guard from the New York Knicks, Nate Robinson, won the contest with some spectacular jams which included dunking over 6’11 Dwight Howard. One of the most interesting aspects of his routine was the fact that he portrayed himself as “Kryptonate” and even went to the extent of rocking an all green Knicks uniform and a player exclusive Nike Foamposite Lite.
