Nike is known for having unique inspirations behind sneakers, but this latest pack comes as a surprise to most. Consisting of two pairs of the Nike Big Nike High, the Flintstones Pack was released at the House of Hoops today in extremely limited quantities. The first sneaker, inspired by Dino from The Flinstones, yields a purple suede upper accented by black markings, a white mid-sole, turquoise laces, and a black outsole, while the second style, inspired by Fred Flintstone, hosts a white upper with orange and blue accents. We have seen quite a number of new color schemes for the Nike Big Nike Low as of late, and we now have our first look a pair which features a white upper with anthracite and burgundy accents. This low-top sneaker has a bit of a retro feel due to the weathered down look of the upper, which is nicely contrasted by the clean white laces and tongue. A couple other key aspects of this Big Nike Low are the slight speckle effect on the mid-sole and the clean burgundy mesh inner lining. The Nike Big Nike Low – White/Anthracite-Burgundy will be available for purchase in July 2009 for a retail price of $72.

Nike dropped the For the Love of the City Pack, which was composed of four different sneakers, earlier this year, and we now have our first look at a new Nike sneaker paying tribute to Houston, Texas. As most already know, Houston is the home of the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and Mission Control; thus, this pair features a planetary ring on the heel which is accented by the metallic silver upper, speckled outsole, black swoosh, and a tarnished metallic silver rear. The Nike Big Nike Low Houston “Space City” is expected to release on June 16, 2009 at selected House of Hoops locations. Via Footlocker.

The Big Nike was originally released way back in the 1980s, and Nike is bringing them back in full effect for 2009. This brown, black, and red colorway is original, while a little plaid is added for some new flavor. All of the different materials being used on the upper complement each other just as well as the colors do. These are true lifestyle Nikes, and will be released sometime in November.

The Nike Big Nike High was made famous by the larger-than-life 7’7″ Manute Bol, who wore the high-performance shoe back in the 1980′s. As so often happens in our remixed and reissued culture, the Big Nike is set to hit retailers later this year in a bevy of original and lifestyle color schemes. The shoe is defined by a predominantly white upper and cement print heel panel.
