First released back in 1993 the Air Jordan IX ‘Olive’ was as instant classic, the shoe also sold out quickly when it was retroed back in 2002. While some may have not seen a original pair of ‘Olives’ yet, the people at Footlocker have brought us images of not only originals, but samples of the originals. Yes, original samples of an infamous Air Jordan colorway. The very first time the Air Jordan XI ‘Cool Grey’ hit the shoe game, was back in 2001, and will be rereleased tomorrow, a good 9 years later. Now when the news first broke that the ‘Cool Greys’ were being retroed once again in 2010, everyone was concern in whether or not there will be drastic changes to the shoe. Eventually pics surfaced of the 2010 retro, and not much as changed besided the slight blue tint added to the shoes translucent sole. But, samples of the shoe has recently surfaced, and shows a mesh upper instead of the classic nubuck upper. Now imagine if the ‘Cool Greys’ with the mesh upper would’ve released instead, would everyone still be pleased? To go along with the White/Gold Air Jordan XX3 (23) Unreleased Sample, these Air Jordan XX3 (23) samples are also of the unreleased variety. First up is a XX3 that features a titanium upper, black midsole TPU wrap, and white toecap. The shoe’s upper is complimented by a university blue/varsity white computerized stitch pattern. The other pair is clothed in the exact same upper but is characterized by a black ankle collar and titanium blue ankle collar. Both samples draw a strong resemblance to the Air Jordan XX3 (23) Premier White/Titanium – University Blue, but I’m glad these didn’t release–the color schemes just ain’t vibing in my opinion.
