Active will be going in a different direction for their Drop Sneakers Not Bombs campaign which employs Taka Hayashi to work with Vans and the California retailer. Included in this years collection is the Half Cab and J-Lay Mid. The Half Cab utilizes several different materials which consist of stingray leather and other various premium leathers. Other details include pig skin lining with Taka Hayashi’s artwork. The sneaker has been designed with an all black upper while the J-Lay Mid features an even more unique composition along with its brown theme. The sneakers can be seen with pony hair, baseball glove leather and pigskin lining with more artwork. Both styles are now available at in-store and online at Active.

For Active’s “Drop Sneakers Not Bombs” 2008 campaign, Vans and artist Taka Hayashi have been brought together. The two will release the Half Cab and J-Lay Mid. The Half Cab consists of a black leather upper while the J-Lay Mid features a brown upper. With each model, Taka Hayashi’s designs can be seen, they don’t look traditional, but the Drop Sneakers Not Bombs campaign usually features unique sneakers. Release is scheduled for November. After successfully collaborating on the Drop Sneakers, Not Bombs campaign last year, California skateshop chain Active will team up again with Vans on the Halfcab. Last years project consisted of simple designs, a concept that carries over to 2008. The Halfcabs utilize a syndicate look with the use of premium materials and a black silhouette. Vapors Magazine will be following the project and will feature another model in their next issue.

For those who have ever attended a DunkXChange, you may recall seeing the customization work done by Rebel Aire, who displays his work on various types of sneakers including Air Force 1s and Dunks. He even has a catalog showing off works done for his celebrity clientèle. For the next quarter of the DunkXChange tour, headlining the event is Active Ride Shop who partnered up with DXC and Rebel Aire for a limited pair of Supra Skytops.
