The city of Wajima is known for their lacquerware and is spotlighted on Converse’s 100th Anniversary Chuck Taylor All Star High. By definition, lacquer is “a clear or coloured varnish that dries by solvent evaporation and often a curing process as well that produces a hard, durable finish.” This design is featured on two All Star Highs available in black with red trim and red with black trim. There have been countless sneakers created for Converse’s 100th Anniversary, but this may be one of the most ground breaking. Four sneakers make up the upcoming drop with collaborations coming from Thom Browne, Mastermind Japan, Number (N)ine and Medicom Toys Libertine. Converse continues their 100th anniversary celebration with the Safety Pack, a package consisting of four Chuck Taylors inspired by safety wear. This Chuck Taylor High is made up of a reflective upper complimented by black laces and a midsole stripe. Other features include two 3M orange stripes at the heel, tying into the safety theme. This year marks Converse‘s 100th anniversary, they continue to honor their centennial with a collection of sneakers in various forms. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen Converse release sneakers using the classic silhouette of the Chuck Taylor with an emphasis on materials. For instance, a collection of patent leather All Stars are seen above in three different colors, white, red and black.
