Nike has just released a few pairs of shorts with their NCAA teams in mind.

These stylized collegiate team shorts represent the Florida Gators, Syracuse Orangemen, UNC Tarheels along with two variations for the Arizona Wildcats. Four of the five pairs have a camo print made up of double layered mesh as well as team branding and logos.

You can grab either of these now at retailers such as Finish Line.

By now we have all seen Nike’s Elite socks along with their latest Platinum Elite lineup and now you can grab some additional apparel to rock with your gear in even more color options than before.

The Nike Equalizer shorts feature Dri-FIT fabric, much like the Elite socks, to help wick away moisture and to help keep you as comfortable as possible while you’re on-court. Now with 14 colors to choose from, there are plenty of options and the Elite graphics on the sides are a nice touch as well.

So usually I only give out some information that can help you decide on a potential purchase with these Performance Teasers, however, this time around I feel like giving out a bit more information…

I will still make a full video review but this is what I have found with Nike’s Huarache Free Bball 2012’s so far.

Traction – Honestly… It wasn’t as bad as I first thought. You get a good amount of traction in the forefoot’s pivot point which is nice. The rest of the traction is fairly decent. I couldn’t get the amount of grip needed for sharp fast paced cuts or movements that you would need for crossovers, slashing or things of that nature but for what it offered it was alright.

The heel did pose a problem as this area had no traction at all which is something I never thought you truly needed but it turns out traction in the heel is essential while on defense… especially when you are giving your opponent a bit of space and they decide to make a move to the basket and you need to be able to keep up with them quickly without hesitation.

Fit – The fit is true to size but once laced up entirely you end up with a lot of extra room in the forefoot. This is fine for those with wider feet but not something a narrow footed player would want as you don’t feel very secure when you’re about to make a move. Going half a size down could possible work out a bit better but then you may have issues with the length spacing and could end up causing some damage to your toes if they get jammed.

Seeing as how the lacing setup gives you two options, I decided to try them both out at once and see if there were any noticeable differences. To tell you the truth… any impact the secondary lacing gave me went literally unnoticed. I was surprised a bit but it was good to find that out.

Overall… I have already come to the conclusion that these are not a competitive basketball sneaker. The cushion in the heel is decent being that there is an Air Max unit in place. Forefoot cushion is nonexistent and you are so close to the ground (the foam doesn’t offer nearly enough cushion for my taste) that I felt like I was running around without shoes on… which is sort of the point with Nike’s Free outsole but not something I personally would prefer to hoop in.

I would say that these would make for a very good training shoe. A Bo Jackson type of trainer where you can run short distances, weight lift, go through drills and possibly play a pick-up game or two but not something I would wear in a competitive game at all.

I do want to wear these for a few more hours just to be sure of everything I’ve stated above but this is pretty much where my thoughts are at this point.

We have previously covered the performance on the adidas adiZero Rose 2 and have begun the process of testing the adiZero Rose 2.5. While the differences aren’t vast by comparison, the changes made have made for an overall better shoe at this point.

The traction is the most notable change that has made the most impact in my opinion. While the Rose 2’s featured similar traits, the 2.0 brings things down a bit with thinner and lower to the ground grooves within the rubber. In addition to this, removal of the Splatter traction along the spinal column has enhanced the overall grip you receive from every angle.

The rubber compound used is quite a bit more firm than what’s found on the adidas Crazy Light which does allow for dust and debris to slightly prohibit complete grip. It isn’t perfect by any means but it works well on dusty courts and works great on clean courts.

Another area that has been modified is the overall fit. The Rose 2’s were fairly narrow, good for me and not so good for a lot of other players. The 2.5 widens its foot bed a little which should help with some foot shapes… not all but some. The toe box does have a bit more empty space than what I usually prefer but overall the forefoot lockdown provided by the lacing structure has helped by providing me with a secure fit that isn’t compromised with foot flexing.

So far I’m a little over half way through with these and look to be complete them very soon. For those wondering what is coming next… stay tuned as the CP3.V has been completed.

Last night the New York Knicks went on the road and faced off against the Toronto Raptors.

While I wouldn’t call this game a definitive “Linsanity” moment as he has been very consistent over the last 5 games … it was something to behold as the Raptors took a shot at Lin every chance they could while he surpassed each and every obstacle they threw his way.

Bringing in a total of 27 points and 11 assists, Lin stay poised on the road and the crowning moment of the night came within the final 5 seconds of the night as Lin boldly took the potential game winning shot… and made it.

Call it what you will; love him or hate him. However, you must give credit where credit is due. Lin was – and still is – an underdog… and underdog on a team with three of the best 4 & 5’s in the game and has seemingly become the missing piece to the puzzle.

Only one question remains… can Melo come back and play alongside Lin? I personally don’t have any theories on this since I’d prefer to wait and see what happens after a few games with Melo back in the lineup but what are your thoughts?
