In a tribute to LeBron’s status as a minority stakeholder in Liverpool FC with the Fenway Sports Group, Nike Basketball is set to drop a special makeup of the LeBron 9 Low later this year.
First seen back in February, the kicks feature the red and turquoise of Liverpool’s crest with the city’s liver bird-like logo adorning the heel and 18 championship trophies appearing within the translucent outsole, a tribute to the squad’s 18 league titles. Because the team is currently sponsored by adidas, there is no exact “Liverpool” branding on the kicks, with the heel logo even modified slightly from that of the official team crest. The inspiration, however, is unmistakable.
