While February 14th in the U.S. marks the holiday which pairs of sneakers including the Nike Air Force 1 low and Big Nike high have been made to commemorate, not everyone’s going to be doing the Valentine’s Day thing. February 14th also marks the beginning of the Chinese New Year (as they follow a lunar calendar); and, this year is the year of the Tiger. To celebrate, sneaker customizer SBTG has decided to intricately illustrate the Nike Dunk low silhouette with a design borrowing cues from the 1941 fighter plane that the first American volunteer group in the Chinese Air Force painted on. New Balance has very fittingly began making available the shoes that make up the brand’s Mardi Gras Collection. Following the New Orleans Saints’ superbowl victory and on the heels of Mardi Gras, New Balance follows up its Popsicle Collection with two pairs of the New Balance 460 for the women and two pairs of the New Balance 525 for men. Both come in mardi gras-inspired green, purple and gold while being worked on either a predominantly black or white base. Be on the look-out for these as they have begun hitting select New Balance retailers already.

After what was an amazing SuperBowl, the sports world gets no rest as All-Star Game 2010 is FAST approaching. This also means that Nike releases commemorating the mid-season classic will be fast approaching retailers as well. This past weekend House of Hoops locations began getting some All-Star Game 2010 releases including the Eastern and Western Conference Nike Hyperize, Western Conference Nike Zoom Kobe V, and Eastern Conference Nike Air Max Lebron VII. Now we’d like to tell you that Solebox has announced a release date of Saturday, February 20, 2010. Both the black and the brown leather colorways have been limited to 30 pairs each, with Solebox offering them in-store first. Reebok’s most exciting shoe in years will be unveiled at the Super Bowl this weekend. The Reebok ZigTech will be hitting retail nationwide on March 11th for a suggested retail price of $100, Reebok’s ZigTech footwear was designed with the idea of giving the athlete a soft and springy ride. The innovative zig-zag shaped sole absorbs the impact of heel strike and sends a wave of energy along the length of the shoe to help propel the athlete forward with each step. Reebok has said through a statement that ZigTech technology causes up to 20% less wear and tear on key leg muscles, especially the shins and hamstrings.

Many can still remember taking a look at pictures of the “Motorsports” Air Jordan VI for the first time and wishing to the shoe gods that it would see an actual release. Now it’s so close we can almost feel it! Tomorrow, Saturday February 6, 2010 the white/black “Motorsports” Air Jordan VI will be releasing in adult sizes and retailing for $175. However, they’ll only be available in limited quantities and from select Air Jordan retailers. These will most likely sell out QUICK, so do NOT sleep on them. Make sure you know which stores near you are getting them and what their sale logistics will be.
