Not too long ago we saw the adidas Originals line draw from the rich African heritage and design a set of sneakers sure to remind many people of the different cultures on that continent. Now, it is Vans searching for cultural influence. The pair of Vans Slip-On’s and Sk8 Hi’s pictured here are part of a “Mexican Blanket” collection reportedly dropping during the 2009 holiday season at certain Vans retailers. The same pattern that envelopes this pair of Slip-On’s can be seen on the middle and back of the Sk8 Hi’s, leaving more room towards the front for a purple suede upper with red shoe laces. Check in with several Vans retailers as different ones have already begun to receive this collection and are ready for sale.

Vans is famous for a number of sneaker silhouettes it is constantly releasing in a plethora of colorways. In fact, three models made up it’s recent Wool Collection featured on sneakers with black/grey/white colorups. Vans is bringing the wool idea right back as the cold begins to break through. Pictured here are two pairs of Vans Chukka’s done up with wool uppers and fur linings to help keep you both warm and comfortable during what can be unbearably cold days. With one pair sporting dark brown, and another sporting red, both pairs actually sit on your less-conventional completely black soles. With Halloween nineteen days away, Vans is keeping its festive tradition by releasing another Halloween Pack for 2009. The Halloween pack consists of the same models as that of last year’s: the Vans Sk8-Hi and Vans Resolution. Both keep to the black/white/orange colorway, but are different in their black patent leather uppers. White midsoles keep it clean and classic, especially with the orange accents on the laces and logos. Of course, the Jack ‘O Lantern logo is kept on the Sk8-Hi’s to finish off the theme. Be sure to grab your own pair to trick or treat in this Halloween.

Don’t let the hype about the HUF x Vans Old Skools take away from the limelight of the real old Old Skools. Vans is releasing the Vans Old Skool ‘92 LX as a reissue, which pro-skater Ray Barbee rocked back in the day. The shoe features a light tone allover, from the white and tan upper to the white midsole. The Vans stripe is donned in black leather to match the black laces and black midsole stripe. These are definitely some clean classics that will be big in the coming weeks. These will sell for $80 and will be available very soon.

Chinese artist Jahan Loh has collaborated with Vans once again to create a special Jahan Loh x Vans Mountain Mid. After another Vans-sponsored art exhibition, it only makes sense to release the collabo shoe. The Mountain Mid follows the same design as its Sk8-Hi predecessor, in its black and purple colorway. The strap uses a clean black snakeskin material along with black suede on the upper. This dark shoe is nicely offset by the purple tongue, which holds the collaborative logo on the tongue tag. There is perhaps no brand that executes perforated materials on sneaker silhouettes with more frequency, and maybe also skill, than the Vans team. But Vans can definitely switch it up- as seen with these pairs of Half Cab’s and Sk8-Hi’s that sport predominantly mesh grey bases with red, white, and nubuck black accents throughout. The red on the Sk8-Hi’s is of a darker hue and exists primarily on the inner lining. The red on the Half Cab’s is more vibrant and is seen on the upper as well as the inner lining. Expect these to drop at select Vans retailers this fall/winter.

Last summer we reported on a collaboration between the Vans team and skateboarder Jeff Grosso. This duo is now back at it again. A part of this pack is the Vans Sk8 Hi, Sk8 Mid, and Era. The Sk8 Hi boasts the most green out of all three shoes. While the Sk8 Mid and Era are made of predominantly black/white bases with very minimal green accents- such as on the back of the sole. Look out for this pack, as it is supposed to release as part of Vans’ 2009 Holiday collection.
