Michael Jordan Air Jordan IX (9) Player Exclusive 45 PE Cleats

In a decision heard ’round the world, Michael Jordan retired from the game of basketball to pursue a career in baseball. His announcement came shortly after the passing of his father, who had always envisioned his son as a Big Leaguer. MJ batted .202 with 3 HR, 51 RBI, 30 stolen bases, and 11 errors in a largely underwhelming campaign that was forever enshrined in cinematic classic Space Jam. (Mike also had a stint with the Scottsdale Scorpions in the 1994 Arizona Fall League.) Jordan sported the Tinker Hatfield-designed Jordan IX (9), his signature for the ‘94-95 season in a cleated format. The shoe featured an all-black upper and was distinguished by Jordan’s number “45″ and a clever Jumpman “Globe” logo stitched along the heel. (Tinker crafted the IX in recognition of Jordan and the game of basketball’s newfound global influence.) Via NikeTalk’s American Dream.

Mark Gonzales x adidas Skateboarding Polson ST Drops!

In an effort to diversify its consumer base, adidas reinvented several of their “Originals” models in a skate-friendly format. Stan Smiths, Superstars and Rod Lavers began hitting shelves with densely padded tongues and sticky outsoles. The brand has also reached out to numerous pro skaters for endorsement and product placement deals, including incredibly talented skater Mark Gonzales. The aforementioned Gonzales recently reworked the Polson ST, applying a ghost-like (I’m not quite sure what the unique design is–we’ll update here when we get better images!) pattern to the lowtop’s middle panel and suede accent to the product’s toebox and collar. A t-shirt featuring the same poltergeist motif will accompany the ST. The Mark Gonzales x adidas Polson ST will be available at the adidas Originals store in Spring 2009. Via Hypequest.

Air Jordan Retro 1 (I) Mid "Hare"

It seems as though Jordan Brand is highly focusing on their first numbered sneaker, the Air Jordan 1 (I), quite a bit as of late and it is truly becoming evident through the detailed colorways that have released this year and will release in the upcoming year. We have seen the Air Jordan 1 yielding some typical Air Jordan colorways and some not so typical, but this colorway will hit home as a surprise for most sneakerheads. Most of us thought that the infamous “Hare” colorway was made solely for the Air Jordan 7 (VII), but we were obviously mistaken. In 2009, Jordan Brand will be implementing this much sought after colorway onto the Air Jordan 1 Retro.

Player Exclusive Rewind: Michael Jordan’s Air Jordan Columbia XI (11)

Unfortunate perhaps, but a plethora of Jordan Brand products have shorter shelf lives than Lil’ Bow Wow. Everywhere you look, signature models are cracking and degrading at alarming rates–even MJ himself can’t escape the ol’ “yellow” funk on his Columbia XI (11) Mids that were recently acquired and posted digitally by Alaska shoe buff Phase2. (His momma calls him Jermaine.) The model has been creased, laced, and rocked by the King (Chill, LeBron) making it the dopest player sample product I’ve seen in a New York Minute. Who cares about the discolored soles, anyways? (I hear they build character.)  The model was produced to fit Jordan’s size 13.5 skis and was manufactured in Taiwan.  Only one question remains–how many underfed Taiwanese children were terrorized and bruatlized during the sneaker’s production process to ensure that Mike himself was terrorizing opponents on-court?

Detailed Photos: Air Jordan 2009 Black Gold

Over the course of the past few weeks, he Air Jordan 2009 has developed a few unofficial monikers such as the Air Jordan XXIV (24) and Air Jordan 2K9. Unfortunately, credible information has yet to metriculate from the Jordan Brand camp, so we only have pictures to talk about. This AJ 2009 features an all-black patent leather upper, elegant sculpting, and a Jumpman hologram. Gold is the secondary color of the sneaker and is located at the heel, front and inside of the shoe. No word yet on official release date, but be sure to check back for updates. Via Fatboy Kickz.
