With news of the “Tennis Canvas,” something other than the Nitro Microphone Underground pair is garnering some of the Air Force 1 news. Here’s some more. In a rather classic and low-key black/white colorway, this Air Force 1 Mid is made of leather and nubuck materials, and is topped off with what sneakerheads call a bubble gum bottom (sole). One of the bigger sneaker stories of the year included the “Tennis Ball” Nike Hypermax that many of us are still trying to get a hold of as of right now. It seems that Nike has inspired itself to incorporate something similar to the iconic Nike Air Force 1 Low. The AF1 pictured here comes in a quilted canvas upper that includes what appears to be an argyle pattern on the mid panel. The tongue comes in a yellow hue reminiscent of the color that tennis balls come in, while the heel sports some of that same color and a green splatter that most sneakerheads will recall seeing on the Nike Air Tech Challenge. Although these shoes are yet to release widely in Nike retail accounts, you can find at least one place that has you covered on line. Just last week we delivered word that the Nike Air Force 1 paying tribute to the 10th anniversary of the Japanese hip-hop group “Nitro Microphone Underground’s” debut album would be releasing at select UNDFTD shops in Japan. We now would like to report to you that the aforementioned Nike Air Force 1 High shall be releasing at House of Hoops locations nationwide this Saturday September 26, 2009. It’s always a treat to see what consumers at 21 Mercer are coming up with when working with the Nike Bespoke shop. This time, the Nike Air Force 1 Bespoke was designed by T.E.C. This well-put-together AF1 uses brown woodgrain crocodile material on the toebox, side panel, and ankle tab. The swoosh sports tan canvas material to contrast the woodgrain and brown leather on the upper. The off-white MX midsole features red contrast stitching to match the tongue tag and back heel panel. To finish things off nicely, T.E.C. added a clean gumsole and a golden lace plate bearing T.E.C.’s initials, making this a memorable one-of-one, as well as a memorable visit to 21 Mercer.

Grand purple has been the recent celebrity of Nike’s silhouettes this year, with guest appearances on the Air Jordan I, Nike Air Max 1, and Nike SB Dunk Hi, to name a few. Well, it’s about time the colorway came over to the Nike Air Force 1. The Nike Air Force 1 comes in a black/white-grand purple colorway, utilizing a black leather and nubuck upper, white midsole, and black outsole. The swoosh uses white leather to contrast the dark colors on the upper, and to match the white inner lining. Grand purple makes its appearance on the laces, tongue tag, midsole, and back ankle panel. This is a very clean colorway which is set to release sometime this fall.

Just last month we showed you the Nitro Microphone Nike Air Force 1 High’s to many people’s liking. We have now gotten word that on Saturday September 19th, 2009 (as in tomorrow), all UNDEFEATED stores in Japan will have these available for sale in (understandably and expectedly) limited quantities.
