With Ramon Diaz compiling a list of his favorite Nike commercials, we figured The Roth Boys’ proclamation to the other Converse Band of Ballers teams fit today’s mood. Whaddya think? Funny or corny? Ingenious, perhaps? Either way, we’ll have more improvisational work from Asher and his gang as the week progresses! Via: Bounce.

Known sneakerhead Ian Ginoza (of the Kicks/HI store in Hawaii and St. Alfred’s in Chicago) designed this pair of Jack Purcell’s as part of the Converse 1HUND(RED) Collection. Like other Purcell’s we’ve come across before, this “Red Ox” pair also boasts a sleek and classy design. However, these shoes are highlighted by the use of “Epi” leather, which is a fine leather that can be found on a lot of Louis Vuitton bags. But the Epi leather serves a more practical use as well- making the shoe waterproof and perfect to welcome an unexpected rain shower in.

Known for its versatility, the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star has been given a makeover unlike any other we’ve ever seen. In honor of the late King of Pop, the iconic shoe has literally been reversed, panel by panel, an unreal visual feat not unlike the famous dance move it pays homage to. Of the many reversed design aspects, the first noticed is the new location of the lace eyelets. Once the mind has wrapped itself around how a heel lace-up would even work, some more subtle switches are noticed, like that between the heel tab and the toe box. With even the classic All-Star logo receiving a ‘No Good, No Stars’ parody, no aspect of the shoe has been left untouched — in fact, I’m curious to see if the soles have gone through a little inversion of their own. The backwards Cons drop exclusively at Alife Rivington Club later this week, but I wouldn’t expect them to stick around for long.

Hook Em Horns: Converse Weapon iD

Earlier this summer, Converse invited me to experiment with their Converse ONE initiative, an “ID” service that allows the consumer to invent their own color combinations and graft logos or personal memorandums onto their kicks. I revised a pair of Pro Leather ‘76 Mids several months ago (hit the link to read more about ONE’s blueprint and my quibbles with its piddling color palette) and got the opportunity to transform the Weapon ‘86 in June.
