Asics’ Gel Lyte III emerged last year as favorite among collaborators that included Colette, David Z, Mita Sneakers and Solebox just to name a few. As for 2009, there has been more focus on non-GL III sneakers except for this new batch of Gel Lyte IIIs set to release in February. Included in the drop are four styles made up of red/white/blue, black/white/grey, tan/white/navy or white/red/black. Amsterdam retailer Patta is scheduled to release three sneakers with Asics to celebrate their 5th anniversary. Patta has lined up three artists for the collaboration, Eric Elms, Delta and Parra. These three designers implement subtle colorways available in purple, black and red with different colored highlights giving pair a bit of style and flare. Furthermore, artwork by Elms, Delta and Parra can be found lining the interior and insole of the Gel Lyte Speed. Look for all three to release at Patta at the end of the month. Via Patta.

The high-rising Seck Mid earned stripes as an understated, yet incredibly functional shoe in Japan’s professional basketball leagues when the model released in the mid-’80s. As so often happens in our remixed and recycled culture, the Seck gained notoriety earlier this summer when it hit shelves in a menagerie of daring lifestyle color schemes. The sneaker will return in 2009 too, but in a more traditional, all-leather format. So far, a white/blue version and red/red/white coloway are scheduled for release. Originally released in 1976, the Lawnship was the pinnacle of Onitsuka’s tennis department. Featuring technologies such as optimum traction (a modified herringbone outsole) and anti-slip control, the shoe’s rounded toe allowed for greater lateral movement on returns and serves. Simple and effective. (The “progression” of shoes and their correlating modifications and cushioning interfaces is amazing, isn’t it?) Expect to see the Lawnship sometime early on in 2009 in four colorways: red/red/white, yellow/green/lime green, white/grey/navy, and black/pumpkin orange/white. Via Sneaker Freaker.

Asics has been one of the biggest surprises of the year serving up great releases by teaming up with big names including Solebox, Mita, David Z, La MJC and the list goes on and go. Here’s a preview of the Gel Lyte III and GT II which will be available early 2009. The January drop will yield three pairs of the GT II and one pair of the Gel Lyte III. The set of GT IIs feature colorways that vibrant and bold which keeps every model different from one another. The GL III also sports a unique color scheme consisting of teal, purple, yellow and black. Look for all four when they release in January. Via hb.

After the Colette x La MJC x Asics Gel Lyte III surfaced the internet, an Asics GT II soon followed with contributes coming from the two brands. This GT II uses a combination of light blue, black, white and red for its make up. Light blue is placed on the front and back of the sneaker while red highlights borders the two lines across the sides of the sneaker and can be spotted on the sole and heel tab. A matching scarf has also been created for the release. The Asics GT II will be limited to 100 pairs and 76 pairs will be available at Colette, 12 pairs at Patta and 12 pairs at Solebox.
