As first images of the Air Jordan 9 “Doernbecher” emerged not to long ago, it was only a matter of days or hours before some today’s savviest custom sneaker designers took notice of the collaborative kicks.

For Mache of Mache Custom Kicks, the time to design was now. Gravitating towards the Air Jordan 9 that was designed by 11-year old Oswaldo “Pollito” Jimenez, a member of the 2012 Doernbecher Freestyle team, Mache cooked up a custom interpretation of the retros by using the Air Jordan 6 as his base. Using the same white, black, and gold color scheme, Mache gets everything right as he even incorperates feather-like details that mimic Oswaldo’s nickname throughout the shoe.
