A brand staple since its debut in the 70’s, tennis superstar George ‘Rod’ Laver’s signature shoe is back with some new plot driven colorways. Forgoing the trademark 3-Stripes branding, Adidas chose to model the shoe around a simple execution-based platform, a timeless statement proving to be successful even today. Now, nearly four decades later, nine global Consortium partners have been given the opportunity to revamp the instant classic with their choice of color, fabric, and detail work. The images unveiled this week include an original colorway as well as the works of New York’s ‘Dave’s Quality Meat‘, Barcelona’s ‘LimitEDitions‘, LA’s ‘Undefeated‘, and ‘VA’ of Tokyo. Available in extremely limited qualities, you can expect these models to pop up at Consortium retailers throughout August and September.

Jordan Brand continues to perpetuate the retrofitting of their first numbered model with this latest military inspired colorway. Slated for an early 2010 release, this version of the Jordan classic features suede uppers, black waxed laces, and a tantalizing gum sole — with a yellow logo on the tongue tag providing the perfect finishing touch. Sporting a price tag set at $115, this Urban Haze/Dark Army colorway makes next February a month to anticipate.

We have already seen a couple sneakers from the Nike SB August 2009 collection, including the “Will Ferrell” Dunk Low, and we now have a look at the shirts, hats, and socks that will be releasing alongside the footwear. The shirts will be kept relatively simple this time around with the exception of a few products. In addition, there will be two hats dropping this month: grey on black and yellow on green. The highly anticipated, first-ever Nike Sportswear store in Chicago has finally opened its doors to the public. AKIN celebrated its grand opening on Saturday with raffles, giveaways, performances, live music and a Nike Sportswear Spring 2010 fashion show. AKIN also introduced its own brand and launched several independent brands like Potential Villain, Kiks TYO, Wrong Wroks and Royal Mindset. During the opening, there were several past releases that caught people by surprise. One of the eye-catchers was the World Cup AF1 Pack in full size runs and older patent leather Air Force 1’s that released in April 2006. Not only does AKIN cater to the Nike Head, but they also pay attention to the Jordan Head with box prices for just about every release that has been in demand these past few years. AKIN also carries Converse, Puma, Adidas, Countdown Packs, limited Quickstrikes, and other heat you may have missed - all for retail. They most likely will have your size, but call and check first.
