As the countdown continues of the NBA Draft x Sneakerfiles Best Draft Picks of All Time, we bring to you our number 8 pick, who goes by a couple nicknames: “The Admiral”, and when he is with Tim Duncan, “The Twin Towers” we introduce to you David Robinson.
David Robinson was born on August 6, 1965 in Key West, Florida, and since his dad was in the Navy, Robinson moved around a lot. Robinson started his high school days attending Osbourn Park High School in Manassas, Virginia, and his senior year was a standout player. But Basketball was not the only thing he was about, Robinson scored 1320 on the SAT and went to the United States Naval Academy to later major in Mathematics.
In the 1987 NBA Draft, David Robinson was selected first overall by the San Antonio Spurs, but he had to finish his 2 year commitment in the U.S. Navy. Fast forward to the 1989 – 1990 season, David Robinson helped turn the Spurs around to a winning season while averaging 24.3 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 assists. He later became the Rookie of the Year.
David Robinson’s first signature shoe released in 1991, which was the Nike Air Command Force, a sneaker meant for all obstacles on the court. Nike really went all out with the pump system and speckled outsole by the heel. The padding was another addition, which really helped The Admiral. The Air Command Force was also worn by Billy Hoyle in the movie “White Men Can’t Jump”. Sadly a Retro has not released yet, but you never know with Nike.

Nike’s first and only Pump shoe, not as good as Shaq’s, maybe that’s why they disappeared.
Lots of ppl would copp these but is this some sort of bite on Nicekicks’ idea of “Throwback Thursdays”? That site already had these Command Forces up last month.

No they did not have this shoe, they had the 180 Force Pump.

NiceKicks actualy did have this shoe up
on their site. They had both the
Air Force 180 on April 10,2008 and tha
Nike Air Command Force on May 15,2008.
So it does look like a bite on NiceKick’s
throw back Thursday. And tha reason why they
stopped producing this show was cause of cost.
Both retailed for $175 and this was in tha
early 90’s keep in mind. Still one of my
favorites……

I don’t think that was the reason they stopped producing the shoe, seeing as it didn’t cost them $175 to manufacture. If you knew the actual cost for the production of most of these shoes, you’d probably boycott shoes period! LOL!
Obviously it doesn’t cost $175 to produce,
could you imagine how much it would end up
costing everyone by the time it got to tha
consumer if they did though. The high price
is the reason why the shoe didn’t last long.
As long as China is around to make Nike’s it
will never cost $175 to make a shoe. This is
also why fake AF1’s sell for $40 on tha
streets. You pay for what you get……….

NOT the one and only Nike Pump, by the way. These, the 180 pumps, and the Air Pressure were the 3 and only. Nice call on the Billy Hoyle, too. Sites claimed he used exclusively Reverse Jams….

I see where some of the air yeezy influence came from.
I find it strange that most of the people posting here are not feeling the Air Command Force, but yet on NiceKicks most people went apeshit for these. Maybe, it could be the picture SneakerFiles used or people posting here are younger and have a different taste for kicks than those on NiceKicks. Either way these bring back great memories for me.

That was not Nike only pump shoe. Look up Air Pressure. That shoe retailed at 189.99 back in the day.
