Tradition in Westlake Village, CA

Tradition is a new sneaker and clothing boutique in Westlake Village. Opening in November of 2006, Tradition has quickly become one of the top streetwear and sneaker boutiques in Southern California. Owners Andrew Kline and Jason Gaines were previously buyers at fashion hotspot Fred Segal, before partnering to open Traditon. Tradition is not only a sneaker store but a celebrity spotting haven, and it is definitely the place to go in Westlake Village. Peep their myspace for all their famous customers. Stocking Limited edition and hard to find goods from Nike, Vans, Converse, New Balance, Crooks & Castles, Rogue Status, Undrcrwn, 10 Deep, The Hundreds, Diamond, Mishka, Alife, and more. You’re sure to find something in store that will make you shine on the streets of LA!

Jason Gaines and Andrew Kline incepted TRADITION in 2006. Respectively, the ex-college basketball player and a former straight-edge band member (Strife), met as teenagers in Thousand Oaks, CA. Exceeding 15 years of combined retail experience, the two re-met while working as manager/buyer at Conveyor (Gaines) and (Kline) at Fred Segal Santa Monica. Sharing a mutual respect for street culture and lifestyle influencing factors, the pair cultivated TRADITION- a high-end streetwear boutique for men and women that provides distinguished sneaker, apparel and accessory labels including: Nike (quickstrike and elite), Vans Vault, Vans by Marc Jacobs, Converse, Converse by John Varvatos, ALIFE, New Balance, Crooks & Castles, Rogue Status, 10 Deep, Diamond, The Hundreds, Fresh Jive, Warhol Factory Levi?s, GONZ!, UNDRCRWN, and more.

Gaines and Kline enlisted MASH Studios- renowned for projects with Kid Robot, Urban Outfitters – to transform the 1200 square foot retail space into a literal interpretation of their straight-to-the-point attitude. The entrance is lined with dark, enevenly positioned, hardwood panels that disintegrate into polished concrete. The clean contrast between the brightly, exposed ceiling and the dark, reclaimed, wood fixtures emphasize the boutique?s hand-selected streetwear line-up. Tradition also introduced the monthly release of limited-edition T-shirts bearing its moniker. Upcoming collaborations with Mr. Cartoon, Soul Assasins, graffittti legend Axis, and Undr-Crwn are sure to sell out fast. Their website should be officially launched in late November.
