About 2 months ago Sneakerfiles brought you an article on an upcoming store in Chicago, A.Okay Official. The store that fuses a feel of hip hop, sneakers, art, and toys in just about every corner of the store.
A.Okay Official has grown tremendously within the past 2 months. The availability of sneakers has grown as well. A.Okay Official also has apparel that consists of limited edition T-shirts (42 of each) . The toy’s have also gotten big as A.Okay Official is the only place on the north side of Chicago that sells Japanese imported toys. Just about everyday now you see hip hop artists in live acts with a dope DJ digging through crates to provide the hip hop feel that Chicago has or even live artist’s painting on a canvas.
I interviewed Jason, Owner of A.Okay Official and asked how A.Okay Official has grown and what direction has it been taking since we last spoke to him.
Jason Says, ” Not only have our accounts start coming in but we also have a lot of product than we had 2 months ago but its also awesome the energy of the consumers that are coming in. Everyone has a positive response within the community and within the sneaker world. We got mad props from Dave Jeff at the Dunkxchange as well as other people and it’s amazing that A.Okay is being welcomed into this type of community”
Brian, Co-founder Says, “Most Definitely is product. Product has changed. Last time we spoke, we landed an Lacoste account as well as mighty healthy and JB Classics, you know? Some weight in the industry so we can try to represent the fashion culture in here so some cats don’t have to go in the internet and look for fashion. They can just come into the shop and try it on here. But the store is coming up most definitely but also the ridiculous amount of love we’ve been getting too”
I asked Jason about what made him change is mind to the store progressing from a plan that wasn’t going to work.
Jason Say’s, This our first store we’ve never done anything like this before. Combining all these different products you know? Would it work? I don’t now. What would it do to the reputation? I don’t know. But right now its amazing to see everyone’s responses because it makes me feel a lot better and it makes me think that we are doing something positive and something that people enjoy and love to experience because its not only sneakerheads or urban artists but mom n pop’s come across the street because they heard the music”
As A.Okay Official, keeps growing, they continue to bring light to the hip hop scene in Chicago with fashion, kicks, toys, live artists and many more
